I set myself the challenge of trying to capture London's central business district when at its busiest; so picking lunchtime was the ideal opportunity.

I have been a photographer for many years, but I have always felt intrusive when I whip out my DSLR camera and am almost thrusting it into the faces of city workers and tourists alike. It got so hectic at one point, and I had to jump into Starbucks for a quick break as my appetite spiked!

I had not photographed properly in the central business district since my University days when it was required I visited Leadenhall Market and 30 St Mary Axe for an Architecture module. It felt quite weird being back here for photographic means; I knew that I was going to capture some great shots along Bishopsgate as it has so much to offer.

My favourite shot is of a 242 red bus exiting Threadneedle Street [below] as city workers walk alongside. The contrast with the architecture of Lloyd's bank behind the bus is quite striking! I also like the various levels of lighting in the photo. Along Bishopsgate, the lighting increases due to the autumn sunlight, whereas along Threadneedle Street (right) it dips due to the partial cover of the tall architecture surrounding it.

As my photographic session continued, I knew I was going to have to capture the stunning Lloyd's Building, as well as my favourite building - 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin).
